Gabrielle
b. Louise Gabrielle Bobb, 16 April 1970, London, England. The corporate record industry's new soul diva of the 90s, Gabrielle earned a high commercial profile via a series of perfectly realized, expertly pitched releases. Visually distinguished by a black eye patch, she made a dramatic entrance with her UK chart-topping debut single, "Dreams", in summer 1993. The song also entered the US Top 30 later in the year. Equally accessible was the UK Top 10 follow-up, "Going Nowhere". The album that followed was assembled by seven different producers, including the Boilerhouse (Andy Cox and David Steele of the Fine Young Cannibals) and Steve Jervier (famed for his work with Take That). She was fted at various awards ceremonies, and became such a celebrity that she was invited to appear at the Armani fashion show in Milan.
