Robert Hazard
b. 1948, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. An exemplar of mid-80s American new wave, Hazard led his Philadelphia-based band, the Heroes, to a brief flush of minor fame with the 1982 single "Escalator Of Life". That moment in the sun found Hazard touring with U2 and making the rounds of US television shows, but he was far more successful as the writer of Cyndi Lauper's 1983 hit "Girls Just Want To Have Fun". Lauper's multi-platinum debut album filled Hazard's pockets but eclipsed his own recording career. After a couple of albums, his sleek, synth-tinged sound slipped between the music industry cracks.
