Walter Egan
b. 12 July 1948, Jamaica, New York, USA. An accomplished singer, guitarist and songwriter, Egan first attracted attention in the early 60s playing alongside guitarist John Zambetti in surf rock band the Malibooz. The two musicians relocated to Washington, DC, where they joined a vibrant music scene which included future stars Emmylou Harris and Nils Lofgren. This association helped introduce Egan to the Los Angeles-based scene and he achieved due recognition when one of his songs, "Hearts On Fire', was recorded by Harris and Gram Parsons on 1973"s Grievous Angel. He then formed the short-lived Southpaw, which also included Jules Shear and Stephen Hague.
