This US group was formed by Donnie Purnell (bass) and Ronnie Younkins (guitar) in 1980. After experimenting with a number of line-ups, Steve Whiteman (vocals), Brian Forsythe (guitar) and Jimmy Chalfant (drums) were drafted in on a permanent basis. Their style was typical of America's east coast, a brash amalgam of influences that included M”tley Cre, AC/DC and Kiss, while their live reputation within their native West Virginia was second to none. Securing a contract with Atlantic Records in 1981, their first two albums were rather derivative and poorly promoted. Midnight Dynamite, however, produced by Beau Hill (who had previously worked with Ratt), attracted some attention, and the band were given the support slot on Aerosmith's 1985 USA tour. Blow My Fuse and Hot Wire received a good reception on both sides of the Atlantic, with the band maturing as songwriters and starting to develop an identity of their own.
