Julia Fordham
b. 10 August 1962, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. Formerly one of Mari Wilson's backing vocalists, the Wilsations, Fordham embarked on a solo career in 1986 as the archetypal angst-woman of the 80s. She achieved an initial UK chart hit with the Top 30 "Happy Ever After" (which also reached number 1 in Japan) in 1988, and a self-titled debut album and the follow-up both reached the UK Top 20. However, her biggest success came with the non-original "(Love Moves In) Mysterious Ways", which reached number 19 in February 1992. These releases, and the subsequent Swept, all on the Circa label, established the singer with a "thirtysomething' audience, enabling her to perform headlining dates at venues such as London's Royal Albert Hall. Her fifth album, 1997's East West, saw Fordham teaming up with producer Michael Brook. Following a label change to Atlantic Records, 2002"s Concrete Love teamed her with producer Larry Klein and keyboard player Billy Preston.
