Jesus Jones
Blending the driving force of punk guitar with liberal use of samples and dance music rhythms, this UK act made an audacious debut with the 1989 single "Info Freako". The song was voted into the Top 10 year-end charts of all the UK music papers. Singer and songwriter Mike Edwards (b. 22 June 1964, City of London, England) was joined in the line-up by Gen (b. Simon Matthews, 23 April 1964, Devizes, Wiltshire, England; drums), Al Jaworski (b. 31 January 1966, Plymouth, Devon, England; bass), Jerry De Borg (b. 30 October 1963, Kentish Town, London, England; guitar) and Barry D (b. Iain Richard Foxwell Baker, 29 September 1965, Carshalton, Surrey, England; keyboards). The band was formed in London, England, early in 1988, and was signed soon afterwards by Food Records. Liquidizer was an energetic debut that provided further UK hits with "Never Enough" and "Bring It On Down". Doubt, produced mainly by Edwards, saw the band inject a stronger commercial element. After six weeks at the top of the US alternative chart it entered the Billboard chart and in the UK it reached number 1.
