Jake Andrews
b. Austin, Texas, USA. His father, John "Toad" Andrews, played guitar with artists and bands including Grady Gaines, Michael Nesmith, Mother Earth and Tracy Nelson. Encouraged by his father who tutored him, Andrews played guitar from the age of four and made a stage appearance at eight with Albert King in a local blues club. By his late teens, Andrews, who was then displaying the influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan, had acquired a following in and around Austin and also drew good reviews for appearances at blues clubs in Los Angeles, California, and Memphis, Tennessee. He made an impact in the early 00s at the San Francisco Blues Festival, and visited Europe with Antone's Blues Review. He has drawn praise from fellow musicians such as Jimmie Vaughan and Albert Collins, who champion his forceful playing and lean musical style.
