The Honeydrippers
Formed in 1984, the Honeydrippers included Led Zeppelin alumni Robert Plant (vocals) and Jimmy Page (guitar), former Chic bass player Nile Rodgers and guitarist Jeff Beck. Their affection for 50s R&B was made apparent on the same year's Volume One, a mini-album which featured, among others, a sterling interpretation of Ray Charles' "I Got A Woman". Their reading of Phil Phillips' "Sea Of Love" gave the band a surprise US Top 5 hit single, but despite this success, the concept has not been followed up, in part because of continued commitment by the individuals to their separate careers.
