Bracket
Bracket were formed in the apple farming community of Forestville, California, USA, where Marty Gregori (vocals, guitar), Larry Tinney (guitar), Zack Charlos (bass) and Ray Castro (drums) had known each other for over 10 years. Throughout the early 90s they built a profile based on solid power pop songs conducted over several independent releases, tours with SNFU, Everclear and Girls Against Boys, and a John Peel session for BBC Radio 1. The band's Caroline Records debut, 924 Forestville St., ably presented their seductive marriage of disparate influences (Ramones and Hsker D alongside 60s sources such as the Kinks and the Beach Boys). The follow-up, 1995's 4-Wheel Vibe, continued in the same vein, but this time with more acute lyrics and better production (courtesy of Teenage Fanclub and Hole collaborator Don Fleming). Typical of the band's concerns was the first single to be taken from the album, "Trailer Park", celebrating life on the breadline in a broken down, blue-collar American family. Subsequent releases have appeared on the Fat Wreck Chords label, originally the outlet for some of their earlier releases.
