Evan Dando
b. Evan Griffith Dando, 4 March 1967, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Dando was the poster boy of the US indie scene during the 90s, a decade he was lucky to survive as serious substance abuse threatened to derail both his music career and personal life. As the leader of the Lemonheads, Dando crafted some of the finest indie pop of the 90s and with his scruffy charm and good looks was hailed as the alternative scene's sex symbol. Following the release of the Lemonhead's 1996 album, Car Button Cloth, the singer effectively disappeared from the music scene, with his fondness for narcotics and booze making him increasingly unreliable and precluding any meaningful recording sessions.
