Dr. Didg
Graham Wiggins (b. 25 October 1962, New York City, New York, USA; didgeridoo, keyboards, percussion, melodica, samples), Ian Campbell (b. 4 April 1960, Ely, England; drums, percussion), Dave Motion (b. 6 July 1968, Legoa, Portugal; guitar). Formed in 1995 by Wiggins and Campbell (both previously members of Outback), the duo called themselves Dr. Didg, a nickname given to Wiggins while he was studying for his Physics PhD and learning to play the didgeridoo in the early 80s. With the addition of guitarist Mark Revell, they worked on developing a didgeridoo-based sound that combined African, Latin American, Eastern, rock, dance music and psychedelic influences and was built around improvisation and "live sampling" (a process by which Wiggins created dense layers of sound by sampling and looping phrases he played on the didgeridoo). The trio quickly became popular amongst fans of world/dance, making regular appearances at festivals throughout Europe, including WOMAD and Glastonbury. During the recording of Serotonality (their second album, which featured live recordings and tracks developed from live samples), Motion replaced Mark Revell.
