Daz Dillinger
b. Delmar Arnaud, 25 May 1973, Long Beach, California, USA. Formerly known as Dat Nigga Daz, Dillinger made his name as a rapper and producer with Death Row Records in the mid-90s. One of the original popularisers of the west coast G-funk sound, Dillinger recorded with fellow rapper Kurupt as Tha Dogg Pound and worked on landmark albums such as 2Pac's All Eyez On Me and Snoop Doggy Dogg's Tha Doggfather. The deaths of 2Pac and the Notorious B.I.G. and the imprisonment of Marion "Suge" Knight sent Death Row into administrative and financial chaos, and as a result the release of Dillinger's solo debut was put back before finally coming out to little fanfare in 1998. He set up his own D.P.G. label and released his second set, R.A.W. The album, like its predecessor, stayed true to Death Row's G-funk sound although the lyrics of tracks such as "What It Iz" gave full vent to Dillinger's anger with his former colleagues. The follow-up Long Beach 2 Fillmoe paired Dillinger with JT The Bigga Figga.
