Ana Gabriel
b. Mar¡a Guadalupe Ara£jo Young, 10 December 1962, Guam£chil, Sinaloa, Mexico. Gabriel sang from very early childhood, performing in public at the age of six. During her early and mid-teens, now living in Tijuana, she recorded, "Compr‚ndeme", and also performed at local festivals. She began recording for Sony in the mid-80s, releasing a string of commercially successful albums. Concentrating her repertoire on the music of Mexico, Gabriel incorporates corridos, lambada and romantic ballads and is best known and highly regarded for her ranchera songs. Among the composers whose work Gabriel sings are Roberto Carlos ("Desahogo"), Vicente Fern ndez ("Las Llaves De Mi Alma"), and Juan Gabriel ("Debo Hacerlo'), and it is to these three artists that she pays tribute on her 2006 recording Dos Amores Un Amante. Gabriel has enjoyed considerable success with her extensive recording career, including gold, platinum and diamond records. Through the early 00s she won several Lo Neustro awards, including 2006"s Premio Lo Nuestro A La Musica Latino.
