Corona
Pop house act Corona are Italian writer/producer Francesco Bontempi (aka Lee Marrow) and vocalist Olga De Souza (b. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil). De Souza moved to Italy in 1990 and formed the duo with Bontempi (who was one of the co-writers of Cappella's debut hit, "Bauhaus"/"Push The Beat") shortly thereafter. He had previously also produced the 1985 European hit "Shanghai", plus "To Go Crazy" and "Do You Want Me" under his Lee Morrow alias. De Souza and Bontempi's first collaboration, "Rhythm Of The Night', was released in 1993, but it was not until the following year that it became a global success. Reaching number 2 in the UK charts as well as going Top 10 in almost every other European territory, it also charted on Billboard's US pop list. Licensed from DWA Records in Italy by A&R manager Steve Allen to WEA Records" newly founded dance offshoot, Eternal, "Rhythm Of The Night" became one of the most popular mainstream club tracks of autumn 1994. It was succeeded by the release of "Baby Baby" in March 1995, with remixes from Ice MC and KWS. It preceded the release of their debut album and a series of UK personal appearances.
