Danny Tenaglia
b. Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. Italian-American Tenaglia, together with keyboard player Peter Dauo, played host to an impressive slew of house cuts emanating from New York in the 90s. He first turned to dance music when hearing a mix tape for the first time, subsequently selling them for the artist concerned. He was a keen enthusiast in the early disco boom, and played his first gig at a local club in Bayside, Queens, New York, when he was still 14. From there he picked up on musical trends as they occurred, being particularly influenced by the early innovations of David Morales and Kevin Saunderson. His productions of cuts like "Glammer Girl" by the Look (a Jon Waters tribute), and the techno-jazz innovations of his partner Dauo, built an enviable reputation, as his profile grew alongside that of fellow New Yorkers DJ Duke and Junior Vasquez. He also held high-profile residencies at New York clubs including Twilo and the Tunnel. Naturally this helped bring in the remix projects, including Right Said Fred and Yothu Yindi, and the hugely influential 1993 version of Dauo's "Surrender Yourself". His popularity in New York is matched in Europe and even the Orient. In the UK his reputation was franked by performances at the musically sympathetic Ministry Of Sound club nights.
