Bothy Band
Formed in 1975, this Irish folk rock outfit originally featured D¢nal Lunny (b. 10 March 1945, Tullamore, County Offaly, Eire; bouzouki), who had formerly been with Planxty, Miche l O Domhnaill (b. Kells, County Meath, Eire, d. 8 July 2006, Dublin, Eire; guitar/vocals), Triona N¡ Dhomhnaill (clavinet/harpsichord), Paddy Glackin (fiddle), Tony MacMahon (accordion), and Matt Molloy (b. Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon, Eire; flute/whistle). Tommy Peoples (fiddle), Kevin Burke (fiddle) and Paddy Keenan (uillean pipes/whistle) also played in the band during its relatively short lifespan, that lasted until only 1979. Despite their traditional background, and playing largely traditional tunes, the band, in comparison with the Chieftains, pursued more of a rock-orientated style, akin to Planxty.
