The Bucketheads
The creation of revered DJ and producer Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez (b. 7 June 1970), the Bucketheads project arose out of a "burst of inspiration" in 1994. From his home in Brooklyn, New York, USA, Gonzalez crafted the US and UK hit single "The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind)". Released on Henry Street/Big Beat Records in America and on Positiva Records in the UK, the single included an unlikely sample of Chicago's "Street Player". The resultant album, All In The Mind, a collection of largely instrumental hip-hop and house tunes, confirmed the promise. It was a major departure from Gonzalez's established sound as half of the Masters At Work production team. As he told Billboard magazine in 1995, "I was tired of everyone being on the same tip as we were. Everything out there sounded the same. I was bored." The first single taken from it was "Whew!", which established the foundation for the success of "The Bomb!". A third single, "Got Myself Together", provided another worldwide club and chart hit.
