Blue Oyster Cult
Put together by rock critic/visionary Richard Meltzer (who wrote lyrics for a number of the band's songs) and producer Sandy Pearlman, Blue Oyster Cult adopted all sorts of emblematic gestures to conjure an outlaw image. The band's high-decibel, prog-tinged heavy-rock garnered them elevated status among teens in the 1970s longing for America's answer to Black Sabbath. The band's legacy has lived on well into the 2000s, thanks in part to Will Ferrell's now-legendary "more cowbell" skit on SNL.

To me what was disappointing for this group, was in the 1990's and 2000's for them to be playing such small ventunes such as small local clubs. I've always felt them to be of stadium or arena size calliber. After all I believe them to be one of the best Rock-n-Roll groups ever. They always deserved better. -

A friend of mind in 1977 or 1978 saw this group before I did. And told me of watching the entire show hoping for "The Reaper" to be coming on. They played the entire show and announced that they finished and goodnight. And then came back to play "The Reaper" as an encore. When I saw them in 1978 they did the exact same thing, only afterwards I remembered, what my friend had told me previously. What a way to fool us! -

This group always surprises me with songs that you might think were not so great just judging by the title of them. But you listen to them and they always sound much better then what you previously thought. My favorite from them is probably "Agents Of Fortune" which once had on 8-Track tape and played it so much that I wore it out. -
