Adam West
It is easy to categorize the Washington, DC, USA-based quartet Adam West (named after the lead actor from the popular 60s television series, Batman), owing to their obvious affinity for bands such as the Misfits, the Stooges, and the Ramones, but the band often goes to great lengths to declare that they are simply "a rock-n-roll band, period". Formed in 1991, singer Jake Starr was joined by the first of many line-ups for a series of local live appearances. Starr formed his own indie record label, Fandango, in order to issue Adam West's debut single, "I Get A Sensation". A steady stream of additional singles followed, which were all included on the limited edition 1996 compilation, Five The Hard Way. The following year saw the release of Adam West's studio debut, Mondo Royale, followed by even more singles (the band had amassed a total of 19 by the start of the new millennium), and albums 13 De Luxe (1999), and their first for new label Telegraph, Right On! (2001). Adam West has been recognized for their achievements in their home-town over the years, as they have won several Washington Area Music Association Wammie Awards, including honours for Best Hard Rock Group and Best Hard Rock Vocalist.
