Armand Van Helden
b. 1970, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Based in Times Square in New York, Van Helden had, by the mid-90s, supplanted Masters At Work as the most in-demand remixer in the music industry. However, Van Helden himself was troubled by this reputation. As he told the UK's New Musical Express: "The perception in England is that I'm rolling in cash, but I could make a lot more money if I was a real entrepreneur and said yes to every remix I got offered." As a testament to this, he claimed to have turned down offers to work with Mick Jagger and Janet Jackson in the same week in 1997.
