Aldo Nova
b. Aldo Caparucio. Nova is a virtuoso guitarist of Italian descent. He arrived on the rock scene in 1982 with a self-titled debut of melodic AOR/pomp-rock that incorporated elements of Boston and Styx, with production offered by Blue ™yster Cult's Sandy Pearlman. Momentum was lost, however, with Subject, a disjointed and ultimately disappointing concept album. Twitch made amends somewhat, with a return to smooth, sophisticated and melody-conscious symphonic rock. Disillusioned by the lack of media response and complex legal wrangles and contractual commitments, he left the music business in 1985. After a six-year break, he was persuaded to return to the studio by his good friend Jon Bon Jovi (having guested on the latter's Blaze Of Glory solo project). Together they wrote the material for Blood On The Bricks, a stunning collection of hard rock songs, saturated with infectious hooks and inspired guitar breaks. The album was well received in the music press and drew comparisons with Bryan Adams, Europe and, unsurprisingly, Bon Jovi.
