A fluid noise quartet from Seattle, Washington, USA, Gruntruck's defiant but melodious music has proved pleasingly reliable over the course of two albums. It is aided in no small part by the authentic singing and guitar playing of Ben McMillan, formerly of Skin Yard, who like his partners is a veteran of the Seattle underground scene. Guitarist Tom Niemeyer was a member of Seattle stalwarts the Accused, while Tim Paul (bass), who had formerly worked with Napalm Beach, and Norman Scott (drums) completed the line-up. They set about touring in the region and soon acquired a reputation for their full-throttle live act. Inside Yours attracted strong reviews, but was somewhat overlooked amid a slew of north-west bands braving the international climate. Push lost nothing in its ferocity, but was a palpably more mature effort, although McMillan guardedly described its inspiration as "puberty".
