Jane Wiedlin
b. 20 May 1958, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, USA. Wiedlin was originally the guitarist in the top US female act the Go-Go's, although she enjoyed minor success outside the band in 1983 with the Sparks collaboration, "Cool Places". When the split came in 1985, all five members embarked on solo careers. Wiedlin released a self-titled album that contained a minor US hit, "Blue Kiss". However, her heart was also set on pursuing an acting career and she made cameo appearances in Clue and Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home. A successful return to recording came in 1988 with the superb transatlantic hit "Rush Hour". Her energies in the 90s were directed towards her involvement in the anti-fur trade movement. This resulted in the Go-Go's re-forming briefly in 1990 at a benefit for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), before a full reunion took place in 1994. Wiedlin moved on to sing with FroSTed, who released their debut album Cold on the DGC label a year later. The record was partly co-written with fellow ex-Go-Go's member Charlotte Coffey. At the start of the new millennium, Wiedlin reunited with the Go-Go's for a US tour, and made a welcome return to her solo career with Kissproof World, released on her own Painful Discs label.
