DAY26
This all-male urban vocal group emerged in 2008 from the fourth series of the popular MTV reality television show, Making The Band. The show, which was created by rap mogul P. Diddy, had previously spawned the boy bands O-Town and Bad Boy's Da Band aka Da Band, and the girl group Danity Kane. The group, comprising Qwanell "Q" Mosley (b. Rochester, New York, USA), Robert Curry (b. 3 September 1984, Detroit, Michigan, USA), Willie Taylor (b. 29 March 1981, Harvey, Illinois, USA), Brian Andrews (b. USA), and Michael McCluney (b. USA), was picked at the finale of the first season of Making The Band 4 (on 26 August 2007, thus lending the group their name), while the recording of their debut album was documented on the second season. With leading producers such as Diddy, Mario Winans, Bryan Michael-Cox and Danja on board to help out, the resulting collection was predictably professional and tuneful but aside from the quintet's slick vocal harmonies there was little on offer to mark Day26 out from the pack. The album debuted at the top of the mainstream charts in April 2008.
