Angel Dust
One of the many German extreme metal bands that spent much of the 80s exploring the boundary between thrash and power metal, Angel Dust were founded in 1984 by Dirk Assmuth (b. 3 January 1970, Germany; drums), Frank Banx (b. Frank Bankowsky, 10 September 1973, Germany; bass), Romme Keymer (guitar) and Andreas Lohrum (guitar). Their debut album was released the same year, and was followed by a series of line-up changes which saw Assmuth and Banx joined by S.L. Coe (vocals), Vinni Lynn (guitar) and Stefan K. Nauer (guitar). Their second album saw them competing with leaders of the German scene such as Kreator and Sodom, but competition in that country was too intense to sustain any but the very best metal bands and Angel Dust folded in 1989. Banx went on to form Crows who released The Dying Race in 1991.
