Apples In Stereo
With the possible exception of Neutral Milk Hotel, the Apples in Stereo are the most well-known and successful band to emerge from the Athens, Georgia-based Elephant 6 Collective--a loose affiliation of DIY pop bands greatly inspired by 1960s psychedelia. With major nods to the Beatles, Kinks, and Zombies, the Apples in Stereo made several excellent albums of fractured, supremely catchy noise pop during the 1990s. The band always embraced a loose, nonchalant approach to writing, recording, and releasing their music, and in keeping with that notion they went on indefinite hiatus in 2002.
