Based in Hollywood, California, this US band was formed in 2006 by Mason Musso (vocals/guitar) and Trace Cyrus (guitar/vocals), the siblings of Disney Channel actors Mitchel Musso and Miley Cyrus respectively. With the help of bass player Blake Healy they recorded the demo track "Seventeen Forever", before drummer Anthony Improgo was brought in to complete the line-up. The quartet's MySpace popularity and early demos attracted the attention of the major labels, with the Columbia Records subsidiary Red Ink winning the race for their signatures. Released at the end of 2007, their self-titled debut album was a highly melodic collection of synth-driven punk pop, redolent of bands such as Panic At The Disco and Fall Out Boy. Despite a plethora of similar sounding bands flooding the marketplace, by summer 2008 the quartet was beginning to make notable inroads into the mainstream charts.
