Boa
This UK alternative rock band was first formed in 1993 by Ed Herten (drums), who enlisted Paul Turrell (keyboards), Alex Caird (bass) and Ben Henderson (saxophone). Steve Rodgers (guitar/vocals) and Jasmine Rodgers (vocals), the offspring of renowned Free/Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, completed the initial line-up, although Herten was replaced by Lee Sullivan a year after the band's formation. The quintet developed quite a following in both Japan and the UK, when they contributed one of the main songs ("Duvet') to the popular Anime series, Serial Experiments Lain. The late 90s saw the release of a debut album, 1998's The Race Of A Thousand Camels, as well as an EP a year later, The Tall Snake, but both failed to be domestically released. Henderson left Ba in 2000 to join his wife in Moth. Ba's first release to be given worldwide distribution (and issued via the Pioneer label) was 2001"s Twilight, which was supported with the quintet's inaugural tour of America. The same year however, Turrell abruptly left the band, citing a desire to pursue other interests.
