Cast
With a line-up comprising John Power (b. 14 September 1967, Liverpool, Lancashire, England; vocals/guitar), Peter Wilkinson (bass), Keith O'Neill (drums) and Skin (b. Liam Tyson; guitar), much of the attention initially surrounding Liverpool, England-based rock band Cast, arose from Power's previous position as bass player in the La's. When it became apparent at the end of 1991 that the band's second album was never going to materialize, Powers "left to get something new. I was just feeling uninspired. I left to do my own stuff, somewhere along the line you have to make a decision about what you want out of life." An early version of Cast recorded demos for Go! Discs, before the present quartet took shape in 1993. The new line-up began their career as support to the Lightning Seeds, before signing to Polydor Records (largely through their reputation for working with Jimi Hendrix and the Who - evidently the 60s were still a big factor in the evolution of Power's musical style). O'Neill was a former solicitor's assistant, Wilkinson had played bass with Shack and Supercharge, while Tyson had played with Pyramid Dream.
