Blinky
b. Sandra Williams, California, USA. Blinky began her singing career in gospel, before signing to Vee Jay Records in 1964 as a member of the Logics (alongside future Motown Records writer Gloria Jones). She enjoyed brief solo contracts with Atlantic Records and Gospel, before signing to Motown in 1968. There she teamed up with Edwin Starr, and the duo registered a soul hit with "Oh How Happy" prior to recording an album of duets. When Starr was groomed by Motown as a soloist, Blinky's own career took second place. She issued sporadic singles, but all three of her Motown albums were cancelled before release. Later singles on Reprise Records also proved unsuccessful.
