Dry Kill Logic
A hardcore metal band which came to prominence in 2001 with its successful second album, The Darker Side Of Nonsense, Dry Kill Logic started life in their native Westchester County, New York, USA under the moniker Hinge. Formed in 1995 by Cliff Rigano (b. New York City, New York, USA; vocals), Dave Kowatch (b. New York City, New York, USA; bass), Louie Bravo (b. New York City, New York, USA; guitar) and Phil Arcuri (b. New York City, New York, USA; drums), the band's influences, old-school thrash such as Sepultura and newer, glossier acts such as Coal Chamber, saw them welcomed by crowds on tours with Flotsam And Jetsam, Exodus and Pro-Pain. The band's first EP, "Cause Moshing Is Good Fun!, was released on their own Psychodrama label. A debut album, Elemental Evil, was promoted by tours with System Of A Down, Anthrax, Incubus and the Misfits. Internal pressures saw Bravo departing in the middle of the band's 1999 summer tour. After a brief hiatus the remaining members recruited Scott Thompson (b. New York City, New York, USA) and signed a new recording contract with Roadrunner Records. Threatened by legal action from another band, the quartet briefly changed their moniker to Hinge A.D. before a lawsuit settlement in May 2001 saw them agreeing to adopt Dry Kill Logic as their new name. Darker Side Of Nonsense was released the following month. The album's powerful blend of riffing and atmospherics proved particularly popular with the band's audiences on the festival circuit.
