b. Frasier Thompson III, 5 March 1981, Houston, Texas, USA. This rapper emerged in the early 00s as one of the rising stars of the Houston, Texas-based underground scene. Trae, who was born and raised in Houston, established a solid reputation in the late 90s as a member of the prolific Guerilla Maab alongside his brother Dougie D. and his cousin Z-Ro. In the early 00s he began performing with the Screwed Up Click, a crew of freestyling rappers associated with the late DJ Screw, which included well-known names such as Lil' Keke, Big Moe and Paul Wall among its ranks. Trae made his solo debut in 2003 with the G-Maab release Losing Composure, which was quickly followed by Same Thing Different Day. His gritty tales of street life and quick-witted flow attracted the attention of several national labels, leading to a contract with Rap-A-Lot Records. His first widely available album, Restless, reached the mainstream charts in summer 2006. In addition to these albums, Trae has also released numerous mixtapes and recorded with the 26 strong ABN aka A$$holes By Nature.
