Carrie Rodriguez
b. Carrie Luz Rodriguez, 1978, Austin, Texas, USA. Taking up violin, Rodriguez studied classical music but while at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in Ohio she became interested in country music and jazz. She moved to Berklee College Of Music where she studied with Matt Glaser. She also played at a gig with Lyle Lovett, who had recorded a song composed by her father, folk singer-songwriter David Rodriguez. She was then spotted playing at a record store during 2001's South By Southwest music convention by songwriter Chip Taylor, She began touring and recording with Taylor to considerable acclaim. Adding singing and songwriting to her skills, Rodriguez soon developed an enthusiastic following.
