Carlos Barbosa-Lima
b. 17 December 1944, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Barbosa-Lima studied guitar from the age of seven, making his concert debut before he entered his teenage years. Along the way, he took lessons from Andrs Segovia. He first recorded in the early 60s and made his US debut in 1967. From the early 80s his name became much better known in the USA, owing in part to concerts in New York and a string of successful albums for Concord Records. Barbosa-Lima is especially noted for his performances of the works of Luiz Bonf , Ernesto Cordero, Alfredo da Rocha Vianna Filho, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Pernambuco and Ernesto Nazareth, while he has also extensively performed the works of US composers such as George Gershwin and Cole Porter.
