Heather Duby
b. Portland, Oregon, USA. Duby moved to nearby Seattle in 1994 and quickly immersed herself in the city's still vibrant music scene. After appearing with several acts on the local club circuit, she established a working relationship with Steve Fisk of alternative rockers Pigeonhed. The two recorded the tracks for her debut, Post To Wire, which was snapped up by Seattle's leading alternative label, Sub Pop Records. The album, released in October 1999, was an edgy piece of modern electronica, reminiscent of British artists such as Beth Orton and Everything But The Girl. Duby's plaintive voice added an unnerving chill to downbeat tales such as "Judith" and "Falter", perfectly complementing Fisk's detailed production work.
