ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY
Bryan Cox (drums), Erik Larson (guitar), Asechiah Boyden (guitar), Brian Storms (bass) and Johnny Throckmorton (vocals) formed this US alternative heavy metal band in 1996 in Richmond, Virginia. Alabama Thunderpussy signed to Man's Ruin Records in 1998 with their debut, Rise Again, being released later that year. The album secured them a fiercely loyal underground following and spawned three more albums for Man's Ruin, although there was a constant turnover in the band's personnel. In 2002, Johnny Weils replaced Throckmorton as frontman and the band signed a new recording contract with Relapse Records. Their fifth album, Fulton Hill, was released in 2004 and was to be Weils' only album with the band. Kyle Thomas, who had enjoyed underground notoriety with underground thrash band Barbed Wire Dolls, was brought in as his replacement, joining founding members Cox and Larson. Alabama Thunderpussy has toured with bands such as Crowbar, GWAR and Mastodon and gained recognition as one of America's leading underground metal bands.
