The Dillinger Escape plan are a prog-metal juggernaut hailing from New Jersey. Formed in the late 1990s, the band underwent a seemingly non-stop series of line-up changes, one of which found the band testing out potential new lead singers via internet solicitations; yet this never stopped D.E.P. from releasing some of the most unique heavy sounds out there. Combing the power and fury of metal and hardcore with the unbridled love of noise and pure release that marks the most free and out sounds in avant jazz, D.E.P. have carved out a unique musical niche that expertly straddles heavy rock and the avant-garde, an area not unlike that covered by fan and occasional collaborator Mike Patton.
