b. Carla Bruni Tedeschi, 23 December 1967, Turin, Italy. Bruni enjoyed a privileged upbringing as the heiress to the CEAT tyre manufacturing business. She was raised in France and, after a period at boarding school in Switzerland, returned to Paris to study art and architecture. By her late teens Bruni had begun a modelling career that would propel her into the international media. From the late 80s to the late 90s her face was instantly recognisable as one of the leading supermodels of her generation, while romantic liaisons with Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton made Bruni a regular in the tabloid press.
