The Academy Is...
With its earnest lyrics and breezy power pop-punk in the vein of Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is. found themselves a perfect home in the mid-aughts signed to emo-punk stalwart Fueled By Ramen Records. Fronted by William Beckett with intense vocals that recall the quaver of new romantic and the theatrics of goth, the five-piece Chicago band's 2005 debut, ALMOST HERE, featured mostly straightforward three-chord punk. However, subsequent recordings would reveal an outfit embracing a more complex indie-rock sound.
