Evans Blue
Canadian hard rock outfit formed in 2003 by the singularly named Matisyn (b. Kevin Matisyn; vocals), Parker Lauzon (guitar), Vlad Tanaskovic (guitar), Joe Pitter (bass) and Darryl Brown (drums). The musicians were all members of various Toronto-based bands, before choosing to pool their collective resources in Evans Blue, taking the band name from the dye injected into the bloodstream to measure blood volume. The quintet signed a contract with ex-Our Lady Peace guitarist Mike Turner's The Pocket Recordings label and completed the recording of their debut album at the label's Toronto based studio. The inelegantly titled The Melody And The Energetic Nature Of Volume was released through Pocket and Hollywood Records at the start of 2006. This rather hackneyed alternative hard rock album was occasionally enlivened by bursts of strong songwriting, most notably on the US hit singles "Cold (But I'm Still Here)" and "Over". Brown was replaced by Davis Howard on the follow-up The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal Of Life Ends.
