US rock band formed in Columbus, Ohio by Marti Dodson (vocals), Pat Buzzard (guitar) and Dak Goodman (drums). The trio played a few acoustic gigs around Columbus before recruiting guitarist Kris Misevski and bass player Jeremy Martin. The quintet's sound began to mutate into a more rock-orientated beast as their following grew, but tensions within the band led to the departure of Misevski in 2004. Mike Unger was brought in to replace him and keyboardist Joe Cochran was recruited to help fill out the band's sound. During this period the band had been recording steadily, and by 2005 they had completed enough tracks to release their debut album on the local Toucan Cove label. The title track "Girl Next Door" began to pick up airplay on several US radio stations and before long several major labels were courting Saving Jane. The band signed a recording contract with Universal Records at the start of 2006. The label issued an expanded version of their debut album in April, and a re-released "Girl Next Door" scraped into the US Top 30 the following month. Brandon Hagan replaced Unger shortly afterwards.
