This Seattle, Washington, USA-based instrumental unit was formed in 1998 by Chris Martin (guitar), Lucy Atkinson (bass) and Dave Weeks (drums). The band's debut, SpaceLaunch For Frenchie, was self-released the following year. The trio's brutal fusion of psychedelia and noise-rock earned them immediate comparisons to fellow countrymen Sonic Youth and Bardo Pond and, further afield, Scotland's Mogwai and Japan's Acid Mothers Temple.
