D.O.C.
b. Tracy Lynne Curry, 10 June 1968, Dallas, Texas, USA. D.O.C. was once one of the world's most promising rappers, before, shortly after the release of his 1988 debut, his career was cut short by a horrendous automobile accident that crushed his throat and left him unable to rap. Hanging out with Dr. Dre's Dogg Pound posse, he had regained enough use of his voice to contribute to Dre's classic 1992 set, The Chronic. On D.O.C.'s 1988 debut No One Can Do It Better, future Dre protge Michel'le was heard for the first time, alongside former N.W.A. personnel Eazy-E, Ice Cube and MC Ren. There was a fluidity of rhythmic expression apparent on the record that could have predicted the runaway success of subsequent Dre protg, Snoop Doggy Dogg. It also included D.O.C.'s killer rap, "Portrait Of A Masterpiece", which would grace any collection of rap's greatest hits.
