Blood Of Abraham
This Los Angeles rap outfit consists of Jewish MCs Benyad and Mazik, plus DJs JJ and Lott Loose, and the group's origins can be traced to high school when the members first started writing poetry, which evolved into rap. Their early shows saw them discovered by NWA's Eazy-E; this was newsworthy because of Eazy-E's former employers' on-record comments about the nation of Israel. Accordingly, Blood Of Abraham were somewhat suspicious of his motives, not wishing to be perceived as "gangsta rappers". They did, however, sign to Ruthless with his endorsement. Their debut utilized comic spoken-word samples and looping bass-heavy rhythmic structures. However, their efforts to cakewalk racial territory, notably on cuts such as "Niggaz And Jewz (Some Say Kikes)", was clumsy. Their response was most effective when tackling black racism towards Jews: "Pull out the butt and let the smoke get deep / Cuz the Jews are the brothers that the niggas shouldn't fuck with". The set, which ended with sampled dialogue from Martin Scorsese's film Taxi Driver, was produced by Bret "Epic" Mazur, who had introduced them to Easy-E, alongside Lott Loose. A single, "Stabbed By The Steeple", attacking organized religion, was also released from the album, but failed to achieve anything more than the gimmick coverage with which the band have become so irritated.
