Richard Hell
Punk pioneer Richard Hell was instrumental in starting the CBGB scene in mid-1970s NYC as an original member of Television. Subsequently, he played with former New York Doll Johnny Thunders in the Heartbreakers before forming his own band, the Voidoids, whose "Blank Generation" is a seminal punk anthem. He's been equally active as a writer, releasing books of both poetry and verse, and has tried his hand at acting, with a leading role in the film SMITHEREENS. Latter-day musical activities included a brief stint with supergroup the Dim Stars, which also included members of Sonic Youth.
